Tiny Ball Chain Rings

So I saw these lovely yellow gold ball chain petite rings on FAB by Gabriela Artigas but of course they had sold out…so when I found them in her online store at $100 a pop (knowing of course I’d want 4, one for each finger) I knew I had to hold off and think about it.

But I couldn’t stop OBSESSING over them. I’d saved the photo + looked at it all the time!! And searched and searched, holding out hoping for a cheaper option but alas never found anything comparable.

So I figured (what I usually do)…I can make that ;)
So online purchased some small gold ball chain and connectors. This being the big difference (aside from the fact hers are yellow gold or rose gold, and mine are gold plated) hers are smoothly finished off and mine have a small connector which hides on the palm side of your finger. But at less than $1/each….I don’t care about the ghetto connector or even if the color wears and I need to make new ones in a month ;) ha!

Love love love them :)

ork vs. january jones vs. paige?

ha. just kidding. i have loved ork since i first laid eyes on it and have to say i was a bit disappointed when i spotted the january jones prints on design mom. one- they are a complete rip-off. and two- they’re not done nearly as well.

last year i attempted to make christmas cards with my own rip-off of ork (after begging them to create a denver version, in which they replied that at the time they currently had no intentions of doing) but it turned to be a flop when i created and ordered the wrong size letterpress plate, so i’ve yet to use the design for anything. granted – i by no means have any intentions of trying to sell them ~ ha, my R&D (rip-off and duplicate) is strictly for personal use. but not to toot my own horn; but really – i feel like even mine is better than january jones.

sorry one more :)

i also, freaking LOVE this, esp considering i already own this exact bag

we’ve been using the bag to hold our EVERYTHING KIT for peekay from long lighters to tape (of every variety – duct, japanese paper, painters, masking, clear, double-stick, florist, etc)  to ribbon & hemp, and razor blades, scissors, thumb tacks, zip ties, a hammer, markers, clothespins – basically any and everything we may possibly need on-site for setting up weddings…but i kind of think being able to pull it around in a cute wagon like this would make it all the better….

i’m thinking i could weld that up – don’t you think? hmm….perhaps a call to our buddy strieby is in order ;)

free + fun….wix

so as we’re really, and i mean REALLY, diving into the further development of peekay we’re exploring all options which range from paying a advertising/marketing firm to help us with brand development, brand audits, logos, website, etc… and the simple life of :) free websites. after hearing about wix, i figured…well might as well try it out.

i found it EXTREMELY user friendly, for those who have little to no programming or html past, and as long as you’re willing to move the mouse around and try pressing a few buttons until you get what you’re looking for–it’s basically fail-proof.

so for fun, i made a photography page, not that i’m looking to necessarily get into professional photography, by any means, but really – to 1. test out wix and it’s end product, 2. be able to pass along to my cute photographer friends ;), and 3. set up an assistant gallery for my lovely friend jenn.

check it out.

overall, i give wix a big fat 2 thumbs up!

add these to my new to-make list

this awesome address file…although they’re a super reasonable price, so I will buy it if I get too impatient! I’m hoping to collect scraps of paper that are laying around the house to create the colored cards. [i have a true love to good old-fashion hand-written address & phone books.]

spotted on rifle

and a rope necklace – i bought some nautical rope to try and make these…which i failed and never did because the rope i bought was too thick..i was thinking we were going to have GIANT BERNERS, but :) our pups turned out to be like mini dogs…so I think I need to go back and order some thiner styles… but still might attempt to make them this spring/summer with my *HOPEFULLY* newly found extra time ;) ha. yeh right, but i’ll try! :)

DIY on lovemaegan

…in addition to lots and lots of fun wedding projects to come in the next few weeks! both my girls are less than 4 months away!

Exiciting!! :)

craft a.d.d.

so i have a bit of A.D.D. when it comes to crafting, i just get so inspired by so many lovely bits that float around on the blogs, in storefront windows, as parts of merch set displays…i can’t help myself. i want to make it all! and i’ve truly discovered that if i don’t complete a project the first time i start it…most-likely (ok, ok, inevitably–just ask john) it’s going to sit right where it was started….unfinished. till the end of time-or until i go through a mass cleaning and remember how great of a project it was in the first place and motivate enough to finish it… :) [ahem, lemonheart…i’m so sorry! i just am so in love with so much at the moment i can’t find time to get my site up and fully equip w/ all the images, etc…but i promise, it’s still near the top of my to-do list]

so on my current to-do list are the following:

1. print my christmas cards (the design is complete!, ha of course started and finished in basically one-sitting) and i’ve recently purchased a print gocco machine..but am waiting on master screens (being shipped from japan) so debating if i should find an alternate way to print them…..hmm yudu perhaps? or just go get them printed…time is running.short!)

2. finish up the lemonheart site and update jewelry ideas i’ve had floating around in my little head…which entails actually making them, photo-ing them & adding them to my online store….plus adding in some dude ideas.

3. zinc. ha, anything and everything. these hang tags were just too cute spotted over at sunday suppers – which of course started a new daily obsession for finding all things zinc. like these cool apothecary jars which i’m sure could find a lovely place to live in our new house.

4. coffee table. we have an old coffee table that i’ve been meaning to replace in our upstairs living room – but never got around to it. now i think it may just make the perfect art project. inspired by design*sponge, i hope to create something similar to this… :) with the help of strieby.

yup…so those are my biggest projects of the moment… little ones include: more linocuts, more papercuts, a papercut map, wedding paper suite & decor goodies for melissa & kelly, and working on the new casa – decorating, creating art, finding furniture pieces, etc :)

i have been a fan of androgyny for a long time – it started when i shaved my head and fell in love with the utter sexiness of masculine meets feminine. and the love story has only blossomed since (wow over 3 years now since the first time i shaved my head!!)

which is why i had to link back to this twigs & honey posting

kind of love it. if i was over my ‘i could make that’ phase [ha as if i’ll ever get over that ;) heeh] i would definitely be swooping this up! only $20 freal!? so i’m hoping by posting it, one of my lovely friends can buy it instead and i can swoon over it then….

until then…maybe i’ll try to make my own. ;)
