mothers day gift guide

2012/04/18

just in case ya know, you need some ideas ;) [hint hint, juanny d, hubby ‘o mine]

1. checkered tea spoons, $24, anthropologie. [because drinking tea is relaxing and let’s face it, all women, esp moms who take it where they can get it, need styled up accessories to enjoy it more. it’s the little things]

2. ikat butterfly cover-up, $48, echo design. [with summer coming up, and lotso pool play dates in the plans, mamas need to look cute while we’re chasing our toddlers around. plus pair w/ a cami and can be work as a tunic, bonus!]

3. monthly beauty treats, $10/month, birch box [who doesn’t love getting mail, ahem hello amazon prime memberships, so why not treat your special lady to a monthly subscription of beauty treats, can be given as an annual subscription or one time monthly]

4. honey-do list pad, $6.50, knockknock [because we all make the inevitable honey-do list, why not make it easier for her to create said list in an organized fashion]

5. color block tote, $75, neiman marcus [because every mama needs a big bag, period.]

Tiny Ball Chain Rings

2012/03/10

20120310-142701.jpg

So I saw these lovely yellow gold ball chain petite rings on FAB by Gabriela Artigas but of course they had sold out…so when I found them in her online store at $100 a pop (knowing of course I’d want 4, one for each finger) I knew I had to hold off and think about it.

But I couldn’t stop OBSESSING over them. I’d saved the photo + looked at it all the time!! And searched and searched, holding out hoping for a cheaper option but alas never found anything comparable.

So I figured (what I usually do)…I can make that ;)
So online purchased some small gold ball chain and connectors. This being the big difference (aside from the fact hers are yellow gold or rose gold, and mine are gold plated) hers are smoothly finished off and mine have a small connector which hides on the palm side of your finger. But at less than $1/each….I don’t care about the ghetto connector or even if the color wears and I need to make new ones in a month ;) ha!

Love love love them :)

ok..ok…

2011/02/09

ok, so i know i have no excuse any longer. little man is 2 1/2 months old and starting to somewhat get into a routine – ok well maybe not a routine yet but definitely is developing patterns so i WILL start blogging again. and not even soon – like now. my goal is to hit at least 3 posts a week. [and i still hold true to the fact they won’t all be baby related…some yes, because well :) he’s just too stinking cute…but not all]

so. with that said – here’s ha another blog to check out (that counts as blogging right? redirecting?) – my friend steph; she’s killing it cooking and posting recipes and the thing i find most refreshing is she doesn’t fake it – if something doesn’t turn out, she flat out says that :) i like that. and her. and food. so check it. inspired roots

and…i kind of can’t wait for one of these. i know i’ll eventually get an ipad as well, once they add the camera feature to it; but there is just something about ‘hand written notes’ that i love…and this is sort of a best of both. i want one. june – hurry up! noteslate. i’ll take the black one please.

my last minute wishlist

2010/12/23

so it’s december 23rd… our son is now 4 wks old – 1 month tomorrow! (i CANNOT believe how fast it’s gone already! which, yes, i know…ALL new parents say that…but it’s so freaking true!) with all the family in town, getting adjusted to life’s biggest change and just the overall craziness that winter brings to our lives ~ johnny and i are just starting our holiday shopping. ha. so here’s my last minute wish list

FOR ME – COMFORT

1. bensimon nils – i already own the lace ups and have the slip on’s on my to buy list for this summer…but these high-top lace up sneakers seem like a perfect match for me this winter. and bonus-the taupe is on sale currently at piperlime!

2. boob nursing hoodie – as rocco and i are starting to venture out more and more, nursing in public is a bridge i’m having to cross. this swedish designed hoodie makes it comfy and discreet.

3. this floral kaftan from etsy seller silkandmore ~ i’ve previously mentioned that i bought a silk kaftan but i think this super soft mulmul cotton one would be great too. kaftan’s are taking over robes ;) let me tell you!

FOR THE HOME-PRACTICAL

4. the laguiole cheeses knives set from crate and barrel. we received two sets of the steak knives in mineral last year for christmas and i think this set in natural would be the perfect compliment!

5. the tea and toast butter dish from anthro – i dropped and broke our butter dish awhile ago and now that breakfast is super important to jump start my sleep deprived days – eating my english muffin would be more tempting w/ room temp butter from this puppy than trying to spread it from the fridge like i’m currently doing

6. the DWR teak swing…which happens to be on sale right now! i’d like two please :) to hang off the steel beams on the balcony off our bedroom [yes, i realize this one doesn’t really fall into the practical category…but :) i’m sure i could attempt to justify it and be quite successful]

FOR THE GNAR [because a gift for our pup is sort of like a gift for me]

7. Berner blank cards – Gnarly is always getting gifts, bones, toys, treats etc…so having a cute way to say thanks! would be awesome and these would be perfect.

8.  Gnarly got one of these petstages no stuffing squeaky toys (they sell the alligator one at target!) from my parents when they came out to meet rocco and it’s pretty awesome. with no stuffing – it wouldn’t matter if it got destroyed and the body is broken into 3 sections that offer a different type of squeak in each…she goes off in our backyard playing with it. and i think this zebra one is super cute.

9. this rattan outdoor dog bed is awesome. gnarly loves spending as much time as possible outdoors during the winter, esp if it’s snowing and i’d love to give her this option to cuddle up in. [dwr has a small dog one on sale right now that gnar would be too big for…] this is from the uk but to have something w/ a lil protection from the wind or from sun during the summer would do us just riiight.

FOR MY LITTLE MAN [which yes, just like gifts for the dog pretty much equate to gifts for me]

10. the woodours activity mat – now that little man is a month old, he’s able to visually focus on things and i’m sort of in love with all the woodour products (esp that mobile!) so this mat seems to be a perfect fit. i love how it’s gender neutral and all the pieces that come apart making it multi-functional too. sign me up!

11. cloth wipe solution drops the whole cloth diaper thing is working out really well for us and these drops make the wipes process super smooth. we purchased a good majority of our diapers from the giggling green bean and while i think we’ve got a good stockpile of diapers, i still foresee many more shopping trips there in our future.

12. and OF COURSE the american apparel infant tank tops. i seriously would dress rocco in one of these EVERY DAY, we only own 3 right now…but i am considering buying like 50 more. because, well…with a name like rocco, why wouldn’t you wear a muscle tank daily? and they happen to currently be on sale!

…hopefully most of you aren’t like us and have all your shopping done and have been done well in advance of the mall madness. :) happy holidays! xo-p

cookie luv.

2010/08/27

so i’ve had cookies on the mind lately. something about the soft warm sweet smell of freshly baked cookies. i have even bought some fondant to try and get a little more creative w/ my styling.
i’m aiming for stuff sort of like this….

spotted on the inspired bride

this morning i spotted this awesome make your own message cookie cutters from william sonoma off of a registry sponsored post on green wedding shoes. and i have to admit, i’m kind of in love.

anyone have any good sugar cookie recipes they want to pass along? i’ll bake and decorate and send you some treats in the mail if it’s especially good! ;)

sorry one more :)

2010/08/23

i also, freaking LOVE this, esp considering i already own this exact bag

we’ve been using the bag to hold our EVERYTHING KIT for peekay from long lighters to tape (of every variety – duct, japanese paper, painters, masking, clear, double-stick, florist, etc)  to ribbon & hemp, and razor blades, scissors, thumb tacks, zip ties, a hammer, markers, clothespins – basically any and everything we may possibly need on-site for setting up weddings…but i kind of think being able to pull it around in a cute wagon like this would make it all the better….

i’m thinking i could weld that up – don’t you think? hmm….perhaps a call to our buddy strieby is in order ;)
