t-day menu

so this being my first thanksgiving as a wife…i decided to go into it with an open mind. being a subtle mix of a foodie & kitchen natzi, i normally rule the house when it comes to menus, feeding folks, and what goes down in my domain–the kitchen. so in attempt to be a good wife, i held out on the final decisions for the menu to make all the choices with claire (john’s mom). :) here’s what we decided on:

to start and munch on while we cook – goat cheese w/ olives, lemon & thyme

william sonoma’s herbes de provence roast turkey [john’s dad picked this one…it’s how they normally do their turkey. last year we tried making ours on the green egg but after realizing how hungry we were and that it still wasn’t done, we ended up throwing it in the oven anyway, so when roasting it came up-we didn’t argue ;) ha]

country bread stuffing w/ smoked ham, goat cheese, & dried cherries

smashed potatoes (yes that’s the new “mashed”) & vegetarian gravy

cranberry sauce w/ port & cinnamon

best ever green bean casserole

buttermilk biscuits w/ green onions & coarse S+P

turnips & carrots

…and we ordered a caramel apple pie from the sweet life ;)

  1. sounds delicious! xoxo

  2. sounds fantastic! You’ll have to fill me in on the green beans – we’re trying this casserole: http://kitchen-parade-veggieventure.blogspot.com/2006/11/worlds-best-green-bean-casserole.html

    much love & warm bellies!
