saturday morning orange brioche almond crunch french toast w/ honey red pepper bacon


i’m not a huge breakfast fan-never have been…but there’s something about being able to enjoy a leisure weekend morning w/ good food in your belly–so sat morning we made

Orange Brioche Almond Crunch French Toast + Honey Red Pepper Bacon :) YUM!!!

Shopping List

Brioche Loaf (we bought the mini from Whole Foods since there’s just 2 of us) – cut into 1″ slices

3 Eggs (2 large + 1 yolk)

1 cup milk *we used almond milk

1 tbs orange juice

2 1/ tsp cane sugar

1 tsp orange zest

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup sliced almond on a flate plate

1. mix all ingredients (sans almonds) together, dip toast so soaked through but slight squeeze like a sponge to get rid of excess. dredge through almond and let sit up to 1 hr – up to overnight *however, we were lazy and started this at 7:30am, so we only let ours sit for about 30 mins*

2. in a 12″ non-stick or cast iron skillet heat butter until almost brown – add in toast & cook between 4-5 until browned on both sides

MEANWHILE cook bacon, whichever method you prefer – we use a griddle pan on the stove top on a 4

when bacon is cooked to your preference, drizzle w/ honey or agave syrup and sprinkle with red pepper flakes.

serve up with a carafe of fresh OJ!
